Have you ever glided through a forest on a Segway? If not, you’re in for a treat! Our recent adventure with the Door County Segway Tour by Adventure Center at the Rushes Resort was an experience we won’t soon forget. The tour was led by none other than Tim Pflieger, the Founder and President of the DC Adventure Center, who brought a wealth of knowledge and a friendly demeanor that made the tour both informative and enjoyable.
The day started with Tim giving us a thorough rundown on how to operate the all-terrain Segways. For those new to Segways (like us), it was a bit daunting at first, but Tim’s patience and expertise quickly put us at ease. Before long, we were comfortably cruising along on the trails, riding up and down hills and testing out the speed. The combination of smooth gliding and occasional bursts of speed made for a thrilling way to appreciate the outdoors.
The Rushes Resort, with its expansive natural beauty, provided the perfect backdrop for our adventure. As we zipped along the trails, we were surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of nature. The Rushes Wilderness Foundation has done an excellent job preserving this area, making it a haven for wildlife and a peaceful retreat for visitors.
One of the highlights of our Door County Segway tour was the incredible wildlife we encountered. We were lucky enough to spot several deer gracefully making their way through the woods. Their presence added a magical touch to our journey, reminding us of the rich biodiversity in this part of Wisconsin. We also saw cranes flying overhead, their long necks and wingspans creating an impressive sight against the blue sky.
Our Segway journey took us across a variety of terrains, each offering a unique perspective on the area’s natural beauty. We cruised along gravel paths, glided over cut grass trails through a picturesque prairie filled with butterflies and wildflowers, and even navigated boardwalks that provided stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Riding the Segways was exhilarating and fun, especially when we rode up and down hills or traversed a prairie of wildflowers with many butterflies adding to the beauty.
Tim’s extensive knowledge of the local environment and wildlife added an educational layer to our adventure. He shared fascinating insights about the ecosystem, the habits of the animals we saw, and the efforts being made to protect their natural habitat. His passion for the area was contagious, making us appreciate the beauty around us even more.
The Rushes Resort is not just a great spot for a Segway tour; it’s a wonderful place to immerse yourself in nature and unwind. Whether you’re staying at the resort or just visiting for the day, the Segway tour is a fantastic way to explore the surroundings.
As our tour came to an end, we found ourselves wishing it could go on a little longer. There’s something incredibly freeing about gliding through the forest, with the wind against your face and the world at your feet. It’s an experience we highly recommend to anyone visiting Door County.
